Our Focus
Shu Academy Preschool is a dynamic, Chinese Mandarin bilingual preschool dedicated to nurturing the whole child. Through purposeful play, hands-on exploration, and meaningful interactions, we cultivate children’s natural curiosity while supporting their holistic development—socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically. Our research-based program balances curiosity-driven exploration with intentional, structured academic instruction, providing high-quality support across children’s physical, social, emotional, language, literacy, and cognitive growth. At Shu Academy, we aim to empower each child to discover their interests, build confidence, and develop a strong foundation to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.
Philosophy
We believe childhood is a time to explore, discover, and grow. Every child learns best when education is hands-on, engaging, and tailored to their individual development. So we combine Montessori and Reggio Emilia philosophies with our own research-based curriculum, using daily experiments to guide learning. Guided by the California Preschool Learning Foundations, our teachers periodically assess each child and create experiences that foster curiosity, creativity, and confidence.
Curriculum
Shu Academy’s award-winning curriculum is research-based and STEAM-focused. Guided by the California Preschool Learning Foundations, our teachers bring these fun, hands-on lessons to life, meeting the unique needs of each child. We observe and assess each child, carefully tailoring our curriculum to support growth across all areas of development.
Shu Academy is proud to be a part of San Mateo County Quality Counts program. As a part of San Mateo County Quality Counts program, Shu Academy is committed to the quality of care and education it provides, therefore, it goes above and beyond what is required to be a licensed childcare program in California.
